Europe is perfect for short city breaks and long weekends - most places are under three hours from London. Asia is where I go for longer trips: your money goes further, and the solo travel scene is huge.

Where should I go for my first solo trip?
If you're happy to fly long-haul, I'd say Thailand - it's easy, affordable and full of other solo travellers. For something closer to home, a European city break like Prague, Budapest or Rome is a brilliant first trip.
How many countries have you travelled solo?

What's your favourite solo travel destination?
Bangkok, Thailand - it's my favourite city in the world. Rome and Hallstatt in Austria round out my top three.
Where is the cheapest place to travel solo?
Southeast Asia - in Thailand I'd budget around £25-70 a day. In Europe, Central and Eastern capitals like Budapest, Prague, Riga and Vilnius are great value compared with Switzerland, France or Italy.
What's the best short solo trip from the UK?
Scotland and France are the quickest: Edinburgh is about 1hr 20m by plane and Paris is easy by train. Most of the European cities on this page are less than three hours' flight from London.
